The Allsvenskan spring season offered many high-scoring matches with only one goalless draw. In fact, the average of 3.11 goals per match is the highest goal rate since the 1993 season.
There has been a high average attendance during the spring in Allsvenskan with fantastic atmospheres at many matches. On the pitch, GAIS has stirred things up in Gothenburg, Mjällby AIF has charged ahead at the top, and Malmö FF has shown that they want to defend last year’s title. Another highlight from the start of the season: the goals.
During the spring season, 305 goals were scored in 98 matches, giving an average of 3.11 goals per match. Over half the season remains to be played, but the goal pace is the highest since 1993. That year, the 14 Allsvenskan teams collectively scored 581 goals in 182 matches, averaging 3.19 goals per match.
This year, it took until round 10 to see the first 0–0 match of the season. 76 matches were played before IK Sirius and Västerås SK kept clean sheets against each other at Studenternas in the season’s first Arosderby.
Since the 2017 season, both Allsvenskan and Superettan have been played with league balls from SELECT, and since then, a total of 9,774 goals have been scored in both leagues. The current agreement with SELECT runs until the 2028 season.
