The very first season of Allsvenskan was played in 1924/1925. Here is the complete list of all 67 clubs that have competed in the league over its 100-year existence, from 1924 to 2024.
The clubs are presented in the order of the Allsvenskan Marathon Table standings as of the 2024 season. Each club was awarded a commemorative ball this summer in recognition of their contribution to Allsvenskan history.

IFK Göteborg ranks second after Malmö FF in both the all-time standings and in the number of Swedish championship titles. “Blåvitt” had its golden era in the 1980s and 1990s, winning a total of ten league titles and two UEFA Cups. The club also played regularly in the Champions League. Their most recent league title was in 2007.

IFK Norrköping took part in the very first Allsvenskan season. The club’s prime was in the 1940s, 50s, and 60s, when “Peking” won the league title eleven times. IFK Norrköping has a total of 13 titles, with the most recent one in 2015.

Helsingborgs IF (HIF) was part of the inaugural Allsvenskan season in 1924 and has won the league seven times (but holds only five Swedish championship titles), with the most recent in 2011. The last time the club played in Allsvenskan was in 2022. In 1928/29, Helsingborgs IF became the first club from Skåne to win Allsvenskan.

8. Hammarby

Hammarby also participated in Allsvenskan’s first season in 1924. After some years in the shadows, “Bajen” returned to Allsvenskan in the 1950s. Since then, Hammarby has alternated between promotion and relegation. Their current stint in the league has lasted since 2015. Hammarby’s only league title so far came in 2001.

ÖIS (Örgryte IS), founded in 1887, is Sweden’s oldest football club. The club has twelve championship titles, but all except one were won before Allsvenskan was established. Their only Allsvenskan league title came in 1985.

The 1946/47 season marked Örebro SK’s first in Allsvenskan. Since then, they have completed 52 seasons in the league. In 2005, Örebro SK was forcibly relegated to Superettan because the club failed to meet financial requirements. They returned to Allsvenskan in 2007 but have been playing in Superettan again since 2022.

GAIS won the very first edition of Allsvenskan in 1924/25, although this did not earn them the championship title, as Allsvenskan did not grant this status until 1930. The same happened in 1927. The club, however, has four official championship titles, the latest in 1954. GAIS has played a total of 55 Allsvenskan seasons and frequently moves up and down between leagues.

Kalmar FF won its only championship title in 2008, securing it in the final round with a 2-2 draw away against Halmstads BK at Örjans Vall. Their first season in Allsvenskan was 1949/50, but after relegation in 1955, they endured a 20-year wait before returning to the top division. Kalmar FF also has three Svenska Cupen titles.

Östers IF won their first championship as newcomers and debutants in Allsvenskan in 1968. Four teams finished with the same points, and Öster claimed the title on goal difference. Since then, the club from Växjö has won three more championships, in 1978, 1980, and 1981.

Åtvidabergs FF, an industrial club with 20 Allsvenskan seasons behind them, debuted in 1951 and has two championship titles (1972 and 1973). The club achieved great success in Europe in the 1960s and has been home to many Swedish national players. Their last Allsvenskan season was in 2015. Today, Åtvidabergs FF plays in Division 2.

Sandvikens IF is the club in Norrland with the most seasons in Sweden’s top division, the last being in 1961. When SIF earned promotion to Superettan for the 2024 season, it marked their return to the second-highest league after 32 years.

The Norrköping club IK Sleipner has played 16 Allsvenskan seasons, including the very first season in 1924/25. In 1937/38, they won Allsvenskan, taking their first and only championship title. The legendary Nils Liedholm also played for Sleipner. Today, IK Sleipner competes in Division 2.

Gefle IF debuted in Allsvenskan in the 1933/34 season, totaling two seasons in the top league before being relegated. Almost 50 years later, in 1983, they returned for a third season in the league. Between 2004 and 2016, Gefle had twelve consecutive seasons in Allsvenskan, with their last season there in 2016.

Today, IFK Eskilstuna competes in Division 2.

Östersunds FK (ÖFK) debuted in Allsvenskan as recently as 2016 and quickly became a strong team. In 2017, they were the first club from Norrland to win the Svenska Cupen, and they also became the first Swedish club to reach the knockout stages of the UEFA Europa League. Since 2021, ÖFK has been in Superettan.

The club has developed many Swedish national players, such as Pär Zetterberg, Gustaf Nilsson, Niclas Eliasson, and Jesper Karlsson. Since 2022, they play in Ettan Södra.

Today, Syrianska FC competes in Division 2.

The club from Helsingborg debuted in Allsvenskan in the 1950/1951 season. Their debut was a success, winning the silver medal, including a 2-0 victory against Djurgården at Stockholm Stadium, watched by nearly 20,000 spectators. The 1951/1952 season was tougher for Råå IF, ending in relegation. These remain the only two Allsvenskan seasons for the club, which now plays in Division 4.

Founded in 1926, Ljungskile SK had two seasons in Allsvenskan. Between 1990 and 1997, the club climbed from Division 5 to Allsvenskan, but its first season ended in relegation to Superettan. In 2008, Ljungskile returned, only to be relegated again after a playoff with IF Brommapojkarna. Today, they play in Ettan Södra.
