After two-thirds of the 2025 Allsvenskan and Superettan seasons, things are looking promising for more attendance records in Swedish football. So far this season, a total of 2,184,331 spectators have attended Allsvenskan and Superettan matches.
– “Everything points to new total attendance records for elite football in Sweden,” says Ola Rydén, league manager at Swedish Professional Football Leagues.

After 19 rounds of Superettan and 20 rounds of Allsvenskan, prospects are strong for yet another attendance record in Swedish football—both for Allsvenskan and Superettan combined, but also for Allsvenskan as a 16-team league. At present, Allsvenskan has had 1,776,113 stadium visits, which is more than 45,000 ahead of the same stage in 2024. Superettan has drawn 408,218 stadium visits, nearly 44,000 more than after 19 rounds in 2024. Altogether, the two leagues have 88,885 more spectators compared with the same period last year.

“The clubs are working very hard and successfully to make football accessible and welcoming for everyone. Both current attendance records for the leagues combined were set in 2024, and now we are well on the way to breaking them again in 2025. It’s clear that the appetite to watch football live is growing year by year. Football is the biggest and most popular sport in the country—we see that through sold-out stadiums across Sweden and an incredible atmosphere,” says Ola Rydén.

The average attendance in Allsvenskan is 11,100 per match, while in Superettan it is 2,685 per match.

In addition to the overall attendance records, AIK is on track to break its own club record for average attendance in Allsvenskan, which currently stands at 28,589 spectators per match. So far this season, AIK’s average is 33,892 per match.

As last year, clubs will be rewarded for their attendance efforts during the season through Unibet’s initiative Publikstödet(“Fan Support”). The purpose of Publikstödet is to support the most important part of Swedish football—fan engagement. A total of 20 million SEK will be distributed among the clubs to reward their attendance work. No club will receive less than 200,000 SEK.

On the pitch, Allsvenskan is averaging 2.77 goals per match, while Superettan is slightly higher at 2.82 goals per match.
