On Wednesday, November 20, Allsvenskans Stora Pris (Allsvenskan’s Major Awards) will take place. As usual, the best players, coaches, and most notable achievements of the year will be highlighted and celebrated. However, a significant portion of the evening will also be dedicated to celebrating 100 years of Allsvenskan. You can follow the event live on Kanal 9 and Max.
From 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM on November 20, viewers tuning in to Kanal 9 and Max can watch the top teams, players, and performances from the Allsvenskan’s 100th season in 2024 being awarded live. Nominated players and coaches will attend the gala, along with club staff, referees, representatives from the Swedish Football Association, media, and other specially invited guests.
“Allsvenskans Stora Pris is our grand season finale for all Swedish elite men’s football. It’s an event fully focused on this year’s best performances, profiles, supporters, and other aspects worth celebrating in our domestic elite football,” says Kaveh Sarvari, Event and Private Market Manager at Swedish Professional Football Leagues and responsible for Allsvenskans Stora Pris.
“The opportunity for our club representatives to meet in a calm and reflective setting after the season is important for our sense of community and for strengthening elite football in Sweden. This year, the 100th anniversary of Allsvenskan adds a special dimension. It’s important to honor and celebrate history while highlighting football as a popular movement, a theme that will run throughout the evening. Football and Allsvenskan are for everyone, and our history forms our identity. This has been clear all year, and now we aim to wrap up the season in a meaningful way,” Sarvari continues.
All 67 clubs that have ever competed in Allsvenskan have been invited to Allsvenskans Stora Pris. Together, they will select the Player of the Century in Allsvenskan, an award recognizing the player who has made the most significant sporting impact in the league from 1924 to 2024.
“The selection is based on dream teams for each decade, compiled with the help of SFS (Sweden’s Football Historians and Statisticians). From these dream teams, the 67 clubs will choose one player to receive the prestigious Player of the Century in Allsvenskan 1924–2024 award,” explains Sarvari.
At the gala, the best Allsvenskan players and coaches of the season will also be awarded, including Goalkeeper of the Year, Defender of the Year, Midfielder of the Year, Forward of the Year, Coach of the Year, Young Player of the Year, and Player of the Year.
The jury consists of all Allsvenskan club coaches and captains, as well as 32 sports journalists who cover the league daily. In each category, three finalists have been selected. A key criterion is that all nominees must have played at least 15 matches this season.
In addition to the jury awards, the gala will also present the Top Scorer of the Year award and recognize the Goal of the Year. Additionally, the awards for Away Section of the Year and Unicoach Player of the Year will be given, the latter honoring the top performers in the P19 Allsvenskan.
At the event, referees will also present their awards for Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, and Referee-Friendly Player of the Year.
The day before Allsvenskans Stora Pris, the best players and coaches in Superettan (Sweden’s second division) will be recognized digitally.
